Oklahoma City first responders were called to Lake Overholser twice overnight, and by sunrise, crews had pulled two vehicles from the water and confirmed two deaths. The calls came hours apart and drew firefighters, police, and dive teams to opposite sides of the popular west-side lake. Initial checks found one vehicle partially submerged with no injuries, and a second vehicle with two people inside who did not survive.
Where the cars were found
According to News 9, the first incident was reported around 3 a.m. on the west side of Lake Overholser near Morgan Road, where a vehicle became partially submerged and came to rest against a rock. No one was hurt in that call. Just after 5 a.m., a second call came in from the south side of the lake near County Line Road. Crews pulled another vehicle from the water there and confirmed two fatalities inside, one male and one female. Oklahoma City police and fire personnel worked both scenes as investigators remained on site through the morning.
Rescue work and local preparedness
Oklahoma City firefighters and dive teams carried out the vehicle recoveries and secured each scene so investigators could process evidence. KOCO has reported that the city’s swift-water and dive teams train year-round for submerged-vehicle calls and that previous incidents at Lake Overholser have already put that training to the test.
