OKLAHOMA CITY (KOKH) — The Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office will continue transporting inmates to and from the Oklahoma County Jail- for now.
In an interview earlier this month, Oklahoma County Sheriff Tommie Johnson III said his office decided to stop the transportation service to help the jail’s financial issues.
“After communication with commissioners, several stakeholders that obviously are around the jail and the current jail trust board members, they all believe that they can provide this service of the transportation service,” said Oklahoma County Sheriff Tommie Johnson III. “They think they can do the job cheaper and when I see financially where the jail is, I am all in on how we can save them a dollar and get them more money.”…
