KFOR launches reimagined local newscast

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — When you tune into a local newscast, you typically get a healthy dose of what’s happening in your community. Local journalists are committed to keeping you informed, engaged, and safe during severe weather. KFOR-TV, Oklahoma’s oldest television station, has been doing just that for 76 years. However, this week Channel 4 launched an innovative new way of bringing Oklahoman’s the day’s news.

Channel 4’s reimagined newscast, “The Breakdown,” debuted on Monday, May 4th.  KFOR’s journalists worked hard to reinvent their local 6:30 p.m. newscast. In an era where traditional news broadcasts provide viewers with a quick rundown of the day’s news, weather and sports, The Breakdown is designed to give viewers so much more.

After several months of studying the existing format, members of KFOR broadcast and digital teams launched the innovative newscast with one mission in mind, to give the viewers something they won’t find anywhere else. Adam Chase, KFOR-TV’s Vice President and General Manager, said “We’re changing the way local news is produced and consumed, moving beyond the traditional format to give our viewers the depth and context they’ve been asking for around the biggest stories in Oklahoma every day.”…
