The first time I took my daughter camping, I packed literally everything except the things that actually mattered. We had extra outfits, five different snacks, and somehow I forgot the toys and activities to keep her entertained. By dinner time, we had spilled her juice all over her, she was eating crushed goldfish from the car, and bouncing all over the air mattress.
But aside from all the chaos, we still had so much fun!
I learned that camping with kids is a lot less about being “outdoorsy” and way more about finding places that make life easier on parents (and kids). Good bathrooms matter, easy walking trails matter, being close enough to civilization so that you can panic-buy more wipes . . . matters!…
