Florida Fugitive Caught In Texas Dodges Prison With 10-Year Probation Deal

A Florida man who ran to Texas to escape a child sex crimes investigation is heading home on probation instead of serving time behind bars. Giovanni Curtis, 22, was sentenced to 10 years of probation on June 24 after striking a plea deal.

Circuit Judge Howard Maltz withheld adjudication during the sentencing, which followed Curtis’s guilty plea to two counts of child abuse. With the legal agreement finalized, Curtis was released from the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility in Flagler County.
