Sunday night traffic on Interstate 10 in East El Paso turned tragic when a motorcyclist was hit by a speeding driver who took off, leaving the rider critically injured on the highway. The motorcyclist was rushed to a local hospital, where he later died, and Special Traffic Investigators have now opened a fatal hit-and-run case.
What We Know
According to KTSM 9 News, which cited a police press release, the crash happened around 9:00 p.m. on June 28 near mile marker 29 by Yarbrough Drive on I-10 East. Investigators say 29-year-old Ricardo Dominguez was riding eastbound on a 2025 Kawasaki ZX400 when a light-colored vehicle, reportedly moving at a high rate of speed, changed lanes and hit him.
The striking vehicle did not stop and left the scene, police said. Dominguez was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries and died the following day, June 29, while Special Traffic Investigators continued working the case.
Emergency crews temporarily shut down lanes on the interstate so first responders could treat Dominguez and investigators could document the scene.
