For 25 years, the iconic Wells Fargo bank brand stood over the city on what was the tallest building in El Paso before the Weststar Tower was constructed. Now, the name that held the building the longest has finally come down.
The building originally opened in 1971 as The State National Bank Plaza and held strong for over a decade before its first acquisition by MBank in 1984.
MBank would hold the building for less time, being acquired by Norwest Bank in 1995. Norwest would have the shortest time with the building as Wells Fargo would take it over in 2000, just 5 short years later.
