EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A Cuban national and previously convicted felon is facing a charge of illegal re-entry, said the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Texas.
Jorge Rivas Mompie, an undocumented immigrant from Cuba, was arrested about 2 miles east of the Bridge of the Americas Port of Entry after previously being removed from the U.S. in January, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.
Rivas-Mompie’s criminal record includes aggravated rape and sexual assault, aggravated robbery, burglary of a habitation, and a second conviction for aggravated sexual assault that resulted in a 17-year prison sentence, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said…
