EL PASO, Texas – D&A Mattress Inc., an independently owned Mattress Firm franchisee operating 15 stores in Texas and New Mexico, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, listing assets and liabilities of between $1 million and $10 million.
The company filed its voluntary petition this week in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Texas, El Paso division. D&A Mattress is a franchisee of Mattress Firm, operating stores under the national retailer’s name. The company is independently owned and is not part of Mattress Firm’s corporate retail operations.
According to court documents, D&A Mattress operates 15 retail locations in El Paso, Texas, and Las Cruces, N.M., and employs approximately 44 people. D&A was founded in 1998 as a franchisee of Mattress Firm, and in 2012 owned 25 Mattress Firm locations…
