New El Paso Council Member: Dr. Josh Acevedo

Dr. Josh Acevedo takes great pride in his roots, having been born and raised in El Paso. His educational journey began at Houston Elementary, followed by Armendariz Middle School, and he ultimately graduated from El Paso High in 2007, all within the El Paso Independent School District.

Dr. Josh Acevedo attended the University of Texas at El Paso Dr. Josh Acevedo attended the University of Texas at El Paso and earned four degrees from the same university: a bachelor’s degree in microbiology, a master’s degree in political science, and a master’s in public administration and management, and a doctorate in education. He also earned two other certificates from Harvard University and George Town University. This impressive educational background reflects a diverse range of knowledge and expertise.

He worked at UTEP Department of Social Work and the Department of Government at the El Paso Community College. He also worked with the office of Congressman Beto O’Rourke in Washington, D.C.

Dr. Josh Acevedo, formerly served as the EPISD Board Trustee for District 3, has now won his election for the City Council, securing the position for District 2.
