Canutillo ISD virtual meeting hacked Monday, inappropriate images shown

CANUTILLO, Texas (KVIA) — According to the Canutillo Independent School District’s Facebook page, inappropriate images were shown during Monday evenings virtual meeting after being hacked.

The district said in the social media post they are investigating the incident and will seek proper disciplinary and criminal action.

“We apologize to those community members who witnessed those images,” stated the post.

In a statement Canutillo ISD said:

“On Monday, Jan. 22, during a virtual community meeting, a user in the Zoom call usurped the share screen capabilities and displayed inappropriate and sexually-suggestive images. A different user attempted to do the same a second time but was stopped before any images could be shared. The meeting was ended to avoid any further action from the individuals responsible.

Canutillo ISD apologizes to anyone in the meeting who witnessed the inappropriate content. Our police department and technology staff continue to investigate the incident and will pursue appropriate disciplinary and/or criminal action against the responsible parties.
