KVIA News Channel 7 is losing two anchors this month, one to retirement and another for a new adventure.
Longtime El Paso newsman Mark Ross has announced he is retiring from Channel 7-KVIA and has three final newscasts left. He has been in the El Paso radio and television news business for 45 years.
Ross, a native of El Paso, had been at the station for nearly 17 years and four of those as an anchor at 4 p.m. Before coming to ABC-7, Ross spent 10 years as a producer, anchor and reporter at Channel 9-KTSM, according to his bio on the KVIA website.
He may be best known as the host of the high school quiz program “High Q,” a job he held for 14 years.
“Now it’s time to say goodbye…,” stated a post on KVIA’a Facebook page. Hundreds of fans wished him well.
His last newscasts will start at 4 p.m. Monday, Jan. 29.
