EL PASO, Texas ( KTSM ) — El Paso businessman Renard Johnson is running for mayor, he announced.
Johnson founded and has run METI Inc., a professional services company based in El Paso, for the past 30 years.
“I am running for mayor because I believe El Paso is poised to become one of America’s top cities in economic development and opportunity,” Johnson said. “When we make that happen, it will benefit every El Pasoan in quality of life, better wages and lower property taxes.”
“That is why I have made my campaign slogan ‘It is El Paso’s Time,’” said Johnson. “It’s time for El Paso to bring in economic development, create quality, high-paying jobs that keep our college graduates here, and be America’s number one safest city again.
“I started my small business in 1994. It became one of the fastest-growing small businesses in America. We stayed here in El Paso, but we now work worldwide for the most demanding customers. The City of El Paso has incredible talent, and I’m eager to unleash our home-grown resources to create economic opportunities and improve the quality of life for our residents,” Johnson added.
