El Paso Police officer arrested, charged with theft

EL PASO, Texas ( KTSM ) – A two-year veteran with the El Paso Police Department has been recently arrested and charged with theft following an internal investigation from an incident that occurred on Wednesday, Dec. 13, according to EPPD.

Police say that Ruben Morales, 25, responded to a hit-and-run Wednesday, Dec. 13 at the 6600 block of Westfield.

The internal investigation revealed that U.S. currency was missing from a locked glove box and a small bag that was left inside of the vehicle. The owner of the property reported the missing funds to authorities prompting a further investigation in the matter, according to police.

Police say the termination process has begun for Morales. He was charged with theft over $2,500 but less than $30,000 with a $5,000 bond.
