Tommy Gonzalez putting Midland on the map
I just read that the city of Midland, TX, a windswept, sulfuric little town with less than a fifth of the population of El Paso, just landed a $169 million, four-star establishment at the heart of its city center.Yeah, it seems former El Paso City Manager Tommy Gonzalez has been busy doing what he does best — accelerating local economies and excelling at his position.
As the city of Midland punches well above its economic weight class and goes for the gold, the same cannot be said of the city of El Paso, with hundreds of thousands more inhabitants. It seems that the combination of skyrocketing energy prices and the foresight of our mayor and City Council — who ran Tommy Gonzalez out of town months ago — has just done wonders for our overall economic well-being.We should all take a moment to thank El Paso city leadership for helping to put Midland, Texas on the map.
