Does El Paso need a high-end townhome complex with units selling for $400,000 each?
Longtime El Paso architect Eugenio Mesta, business partner Jesus Ortega, Mesta’s wife Cecilia Mesta, also his business partner, and a group of 10 investors think so.
That’s why they’re constructing the eight-building, 43-unit Azul Cielo Townhomes on a vacant, 2.7-acre lot at 201 Desert Pass St., between Resler Drive and Mesa Street in West El Paso. The huge, 330-unit Legends of El Paso apartment complex is across the street.
They want to fill an El Paso housing need and spur “infill” development.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held Friday, Feb. 2, as wind gusts whipped signs displaying renderings of the planned project at 201 Desert Pass St. Construction is expected to begin by the end of February.
Mesta’s Exigo Architecture has designed similar complexes for other developers in Dallas, Houston and Austin.
Azul Cielo Townhomes satisfies ‘infill’ thirst
The site was chosen because of its easy access to Interstate 10 and the restaurants and other businesses within walking distance on nearby Mesa Street.
