Burges High School evacuated after campus receives threat

UPDATE: Burges High School students who were evacuated from the campus as a precautionary measure Monday morning returned to their school at approximately 2:30 p.m. after El Paso ISD Police Services concluded an investigation into a potential threat against the campus.

EL PASO, Texas ( KTSM ) —EPISD’s Burges High School was evacuated as a precaution after the campus received a threat on Monday morning, Feb. 12, according to an El Paso Independent School District spokesperson.

EPISD released the following statement: “As a precautionary measure, Burges High School is undergoing an evacuation protocol. El Paso ISD Police Services assisted in escorting students and staff to the nearby MacArthur PK-8 School. This decision was made in response to a threat that was received by the campus earlier today. All students and staff are safe.”
