EL PASO, Texas ( KTSM ) – A 39-year-old man was held without bond Thursday, Feb. 15 for three counts of aggravated assault upon a peace officer with a deadly weapon; receipt, transportation or possession of a firearm or destructive device by a felon; and resisting, evading or obstructing arrest, the Third Judicial District Attorney announced in a press release.
On Friday, Feb. 9, the Las Cruces law enforcement officers received a tip from Carlsbad Police about a male suspect, Ruben Lugo, 39, in the City of Las Cruces.
Officers found Lugo walking on the side of the road. Officers attempted to apprehend Lugo, with Lugo refusing all verbal commands and continued to walk away from the officers, according to the press release.
A police dog, also known as a K-9 officer, was deployed with Lugo turning and pointing a handgun at the dog, according to the press release.
Officers were able to apprehend Lugo without incident. He faces several crimes in Eddy County with a warrant for his arrest.
