93-year-old man dies unable to get out of I-10 burning wreck in West El Paso

A 93-year-old man died when he was unable to get out of a minivan that caught fire after it was struck from behind by a car on Interstate 10 in West El Paso, police said.

An investigation continues into the fiery two-vehicle crash that killed Jesus Roman Villezcas Carrazco shortly after 1 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 30, on the eastbound lanes of I-10 near Redd Road, El Paso police officials said Thursday, Sept. 5.

Villezcas Carrazco was riding in a brown 2011 Toyota Sienna driven by Obed Villezcas Longoria, 38, and carrying two other passengers, a 65-year-old man and a 60-year-old woman, police said. All were from Chihuahua, Mexico.

The Toyota minivan was heading east on the interstate when it was hit from behind by a red 2016 Mercedes C300 driven by Alberto Gonzalez, 36, of El Paso, police said. Both vehicles then crashed into concrete barriers and caught fire.
