Man flees, crashes vehicle in Fabens; now facing new charges

EL PASO, Texas ( KTSM ) — A 42-year-old man, who was wanted on a warrant, is now facing other felony charges after he allegedly fled from law enforcement, crashed his vehicle into a rock wall and led a deputy constable on a brief foot chase in Fabens.

That’s according to the County Constable’s Office Precinct 6.

Raul Fuentes Jr., 42, has been charged with evading arrest or detention with a motor vehicle and manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance (cocaine), according to the County Constable’s Office.

Fuentes’ original charge was for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to the County Constable’s Office.

At roughly 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11 along the 1200 block of North Fabens, a deputy constable was on patrol and recognized Fuentes at a stop sign in his vehicle.

The deputy constable got behind the vehicle and turned on his emergency lights and sirens to try to stop Fuentes’ vehicle, the County Constable’s Office said.

Fuentes then fled from the scene “at a high rate of speed” and led the constable deputy on a short vehicle pursuit, the County Constable’s Office said.
