Victor Hugo Escobedo, 52, is facing a charge of aggravated robbery and two counts of aggravated kidnapping with a deadly weapon after kidnapping a 26-year-old woman and her two-year-old daughter on Friday afternoon, Sept. 6, at the Cielo Vista Mall parking lot.

According to court documents, the woman told police that she was leaving the mall that Friday and while getting ready to drive off in her truck, the woman was approached by Escobedo.

The woman told police that Escobedo spoke to her in English several times before lifting his shirt and displaying a black and yellow handgun that was tucked in his front band.

The woman repeatedly told Escobedo that she didn’t speak English, to which Escobedo then spoke to her in Spanish and told her to get in the truck, according to court documents.
