Border Patrol agents at western border on guard about cartel gunfire

Border Patrol agents in western Texas have been warned of potential cartel gunfire.

Sinaloa Cartel members are now permitted to shoot at U.S. officers following the arrest of key leaders. The arrest of cofounder Ismael ‘El Mayo’ Zambada and Joaquín Guzmán López has emboldened younger cartel members to engage in violent encounters with U.S. law enforcement.

The warning was issued in an internal memo to federal agents in the El Paso sector after contractors reported being fired at through the border fence.
