At about 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 18, police were called out to the 2000 block of North Zaragoza to assist what they called an “outside agency” with an officer-involved shooting. They did not name the agency in their news release.

During the investigation, Shreve told police that he was rear-ended in a manner that made him fear for his life.

Shreve reportedly shot at the truck that rear-ended him and began to chase the vehicle. Moments later, police said, he ended the pursuit and called police. Police said it was later determined that his story of what happened was inconsistent with what was learned in their investigation.
