EPCC men’s cross country wins region, women take 2nd

EL PASO, Texas ( KTSM ) — The El Paso Community College (EPCC) men’s cross country team won the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region V and Western Junior College Athletic Conference (WJCAC) championships in Hobbs, New Mexico, EPCC said in a news release.

The EPCC women’s team finished second behind New Mexico Junior College.

Along with the championships, the men’s team placed four runners in the top 10 for the 8K race and were named All-Conference: (3) Mathew Kipkoech, (4) Wallace Kigen, (6) Hector Sanchez and (10) Timothy Kiprotich.

The second-place EPCC women had two All-Region finishers in the 5K Race: (3) Antonia Ronoh and (5) Esnath Ndlovu.

Next up, the teams travel on Nov. 9 to Richmond, Virginia for the NJCAA Division 1 Cross Country and Half Marathon National Championships.
