EL PASO, Texas ( KTSM ) — The principal of Riverside Elementary School in Sunland Park, New Mexico, has died unexpectedly, Gadsden Independent School District said Sunday night, Oct. 27.
Vicente Sanchez, principal at Riverside ES, died at his home on Sunday night, the district said. The district did not offer any other details.
The district sent out the following statement:
“Mr. Sanchez, a dedicated educator with nearly 40 years of service, was deeply respected and cherished within our community. Mr. Sanchez’s unwavering commitment to education and his passionate dedication to his students and staff left a lasting impact on countless lives. Known for his kindness, leadership, and connection with the Riverside Elementary community, he was an inspiring role model and a beloved figure.”
Gadsden ISD Superintendent Travis Dempsey added: “Our hearts and condolences go out to his family, friends, and the Riverside community during this incredibly difficult time. Mr. Sanchez was more than an educator; he was a source of strength and kindness to all who knew him. His legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched.”
