National Weather Service: Halloween forecast to be ‘favorable’ for trick-or-treating

Halloween in El Paso is typically a dicey affair regarding weather — some years are terrifyingly chilly, while others seem magically perfect.

This year, there’s nothing scary about the Halloween forecast — in fact, El Pasoans are in for a treat.

With light winds and temperatures in the lower to mid-70s, conditions are expected to be ideal for those who want to roam neighborhoods in search of candy, noted Bladen Breitreiter, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in El Paso.

“It really looks like it’s going to be quite favorable for the evening activities on the holiday,” Breitreiter said.

In the days leading up to Halloween, temperatures will drop below normal beginning Tuesday, Oct. 29, but will warm quickly, Breitreiter said.

“We’ll see significantly cooler temperatures on Wednesday that are pretty well below normal,” he said. “We’re looking at 10 to 13 degrees below seasonal averages for late October, but that is going to quickly rebound; we will see temperatures for Halloween get above normal once again.”
