Molinar, Trejo appear headed for runoff in District 4

EL PASO, Texas ( KTSM ) – Incumbent city representative for District 4 Joe “Chief” Molinar and Cynthia Boyar Trejo appear headed for a runoff after the latest voting results were released at midnight on Wednesday, Nov. 6.

Molinar leads with 38.40 percent or 8,109 votes. In second is business owner Trejo with 28.06 percent or 5,926 votes.

They are followed by consultant Wesley Lawrence with 18.42 percent or 3,890 votes and then retired insurance specialist Dorothy “Sissy” M. Byrd with 15.11 percent or 3,191 votes.

If no one gets more than 50 percent of the vote, that would trigger a runoff between the top two finishers.

District 4 represents parts of Northeast El Paso, roughly north of Hondo Pass Drive.

In District 5, chief of staff for Rep. Isabel Salcido, Ivan Niño, continues to lead with 38.86 percent or 6,567 votes, followed by social services worker and consultant Amanda Cunningham with 24.73 percent or 4,179 votes and close behind is retiree from the Federal Bureau of Prisons Felix J. Muñoz with 20.71 percent or 3,499 votes.
