EL PASO, Texas ( KTSM ) – Blanca Trout was reelected to the Canutillo Independent School District Board of Trustees after she resigned and dropped out from the race back in October, according to final unofficial voting results released early Wednesday morning, Nov. 6.
Nine people were vying to serve as members of the Canutillo ISD Board. The top four vote-getters were elected.
However, Trout resigned her seat and dropped out of the race in October for personal reasons. But her name remained on the ballot.
The four candidates elected include incumbent Armando “Mando” Rodriguez with 14.04 percent or 4,041 votes, followed behind by teacher Lily Maldonado with 13.38 percent or 3,851 votes, then business owner Carolina Ortega with 12.34 percent or 3,554 votes, and lastly Trout with 9.92 percent or 2,857 votes.
Gustavo Reveles with Canutillo ISD said Trout will have to decide if she wants to resign again or serve the four-year term.
If Trout resigns, the Canutillo ISD board will have to vote on whether to appoint a replacement or hold another election, according to Reveles.
