EL PASO, Texas ( KTSM ) — The El Paso Community College men’s cross country team took fifth place at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division 1 National Championships on Saturday, Nov. 9 in Richmond, Virginia.
The EPCC women took seventh place.
Salt Lake swept the team titles.
The top finishers for the EPCC men were Mathew Kipkoech with an 18th-place finish at 24 minutes, 19.50 seconds over 8 kilometers, and Wallace Kigen was 23rd at 24:32.30. The EPCC women were led by Antonia Ronoh with a 14th-place finish at 17:54.60 over 5K, earning All-American honors. Esnath ‘Pinkie’ Ndlovu was 32nd with a time of 18:30.50.
The top five in each division earn first-team All-American honors. The top 10 earn second-team honors (places 6-10), while the top 15 (places 11-15) earn honorable mention.
Next up, the NJCAA Half Marathon will take place Tuesday, Nov. 12 at Dorey Park, also in Richmond. The women’s half marathon begins at 7 a.m. MT, while the men’s half marathon begins at 7:15 a.m. MT.
