Train derails in Vado; cause under investigation

EL PASO, Texas ( KTSM ) — Burlington Northern Santa Fe reports that it had a locomotive and one car derail at in the Vado area of southern Doña Ana County on Monday afternoon, Nov. 11.

The railroad said the incident happened at about 4 p.m. Mountain time and is not affecting its main line. No injuries were reported. The cause is under investigation.

Parts of New Mexico highways 189 and 478 were closed for about six hours before reopening at about 10 p.m., according to New Mexico Department of Transportation.
