EL PASO, Texas ( KTSM ) — Happy Saturday, Borderland. After noon, we saw increased cloud coverage with plenty of gusts and dust. With a 20 percent chance of showers after 9 p.m. and winds between 10-15 mph, the stage is set for a rainy Sunday.
We’ll end the weekend with a high near 61 degrees and low around 44. Showers are expected to start primarily after 4 p.m. with thunderstorms around 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. Winds will be strongest at night, gusting as high as 25 mph.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory from noon on Sunday through Monday morning for the Gila Region Highlands, Black Range and Sacramento Mountains areas. Snow is expected to accumulate 3-5 inches. Roadways can become icy and snow packed. Plan for slippery road conditions.
Monday will be mostly sunny as the storm system exits our region but expect one more windy day. We can see west winds blow anywhere from 15-25 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. We’ll see a high of 60 and low near 40.
Much quieter weather conditions are forecasted for the rest of the week. Sunny skies and highs in the lower 60s and upper 50s are expected until Friday with lows gradually increasing from the mid 30s.
