NMSU’s win over Sam Houston sets up Battle of I-10 in CUSA volleyball semifinals

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – NMSU’s win against Sam Houston in four sets creates a rematch of the Battle of I-10 in the Conference USA Volleyball Championship semifinals.

The Aggies narrowly dropped its first set against the Bearkats (25-21), making the comeback taking three straight (25-8, 25-16, 25-20) to secure the quarterfinals win.

NMSU outdid its opponent in nearly every single category with the exception of aces. Aggies collected double the kills of its opponents, 64-32, Mari Sharp accounting for 23. The team also collected more than double the amount of assists, 61-28; out digging the Bearkats 72-52 as well.

With this postseason victory, NMSU is set to face UTEP in the semifinals Saturday, Nov. 23 at 2:30 p.m. from Memorial Gym.
