El Paso officer with assault history fired after latest arrest on multiple charges

EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — An officer with the El Paso Police Department, with a history of assault, was terminated Thursday after he was arrested again on assault charges.

According to jail records, on Feb. 27, ex-EPPD officer Joshua Anthony Gallardo, who had been arrested in 2023 for allegedly assaulting a woman after leaving a bar, was booked at the El Paso County jail and charged with:

  • Assaulting a family member
  • Offense date: Aug. 15, 2024
  • Terroristic threats/causing fear of serious bodily injury
  • Offense date: Jan. 17, 2025
  • Assault/impeding breathing/circulation
  • Offense date: Feb. 11, 2024

A total bond of $30,000 was set for all three charges.
