A tragic altercation at a residential party in Dalton has left one person dead and several injured. On Sunday, police were called to the scene at the 5300 block of Dalton following reports of a shooting and stabbing incident. According to the El Paso Police Department, upon their arrival, they discovered three men with stab wounds.
Authorities quickly began to unravel the events of the night. It appeared that a confrontation ensued after 24-year-old Ransford Myers and 56-year-old Michael Myers entered the property to complain about the noise from the live band playing at the party. It was during this altercation that Benitez, De La Rosa, and Barrios sustained injuries severe enough to require immediate medical attention. Unfortunately, despite being quickly transported to a local hospital, Benitez succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The initial investigation, led by Crimes Against Persons Detectives, has managed to steadily gather enough details to paint a picture of that night’s grim unfolding.
Following the investigation, the Myers were arrested and have been charged in connection with the violent incident. Both suspects are now being held at the El Paso County Detention Facility.
