1 person airlifted after falling off climbing area in West El Paso

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — One person was airlifted and assisted by the El Paso Fire Department’s Combined Search and Rescue (ComSAR) team after falling off a climbing area Sunday morning, July 13, in West El Paso.

According to El Paso Fire, the call came in shortly after 9 a.m. about reports of an individual who fell and hit their head at the Thunderbird Rock Climbing Area. The climbing area is off Thunderbird Drive, along the Jan Sumrall Memorial Trailhead.

ComSAR assisted in getting the individual down from the mountain and transferred them onto FireSTAR for transport to a local hospital, El Paso Fire said…
