EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — The death of Xavier Hernandez following a confrontation with police on Sunday has sparked questions about the absence of the El Paso Police Department’s Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) at the scene and the escalation of the situation.
Gabriel Perez, the attorney for Hernandez’s family, said, “He was not a dangerous individual. I think it necessitated a call out to the crisis intervention, the CIT, which is designed to deal with situations just like this.”
