EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — Homeowners across El Paso are reacting to the latest property value assessments released by the El Paso Central Appraisal District. The values, which are now official and available online, play a crucial role in determining tax bills for residents.
Melissa Downey, an El Paso homeowner, expressed her frustration with the rising property values. “Just the amount that it’s gone up, exponentially, is, it just seems that it’s gotten out of hand,” she said. Downey noted that her current property value is “almost half of what I used to pay for my monthly house payments,” adding with a laugh, “I hate it.”
Chrissy Swescamilla, another local resident, questioned the accuracy of the appraisal. “It’s probably a bit high, I don’t think it’s that much. I think on Zillow they have it less than that,” she said. Swescamilla chose not to comment further, saying, “I’m just, I’m gonna – not say anything disparaging right now.”…
