New records show slim staffing, low Enrollment at Lamar Elementary in Central El Paso

EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — New records obtained by KFOX14/CBS4 show how many staff members are assigned to Lamar Elementary, where students enrollment is low at a campus built to hold about 930 students.

The school will have 24 staff members this year, including the principal, assistant principal, teachers, and support staff.

According to another record request by KFOX14/CBS4, enrollment numbers as of June 30th reveal that 177 students were enrolled at Lamar elementary when the campus is built to hold approximately 930 students.

Norma De La Rosa, president of the El Paso Teacher’s Association said, “For Lamar, it’s going to be small steps because again, you closed it and then you reopened it.”
