EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A U.S. Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Operations helicopter crew conducted rescues this past weekend in both the Franklin and Organ mountains.
On Saturday, Aug. 9, CBP/AMO, El Paso Air Branch received a call from El Paso Fire Department’s Combined Search and Rescue Team (ComSAR) for a helicopter hoist rescue of a severely dehydrated hiker in the Franklin Mountains nearby, CBP said.

A CBP UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter with a hoist lift was deployed at 3 p.m. Saturday with a rescue specialist aboard.
The helicopter flew to the rescue site at Mundy’s Gap in the Franklin Mountains, hovered approximately 50 foot and lowered a rescue specialist down to where the dehydrated hiker and two ComSAR team members were treating the patient.
All four were hoisted up into the helicopter and transported to a nearby road where an ambulance was waiting to take the hiker to a local hospital for treatment…
