EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — Homeowners in El Paso will see a nearly 10% increase in property taxes next year to fund the University Medical Center (UMC) following the approval of a nearly $400 million bond by voters.
The tax hike will result in an additional $71 per average household annually, raising the tax rate to 24 cents per $100 of property valuation.
Crystal Gonzalez expressed concern over the increase, stating, “It’s not like we’re having any semblance of like financial growth. As far as you know, new job opportunities that would allow for, you know, livable wages.”…
