Rain chances fade until Friday night; stormy Labor Day weekend — Your 9-Day Forecast

If you were fortunate enough to live in the central and east parts of El Paso, you got some very pleasant, light rain for a couple hours early in the morning. That rain hit the official rain gauge at the airport, which recorded 0.05 inches early this morning. That, unfortunately, will not be the case tonight. TONIGHT: The skies will be partly cloudy but turn perfectly clear overnight. The south-SE winds will range from 5-15 mph with occasional gusts from distant area storms. The low will drop to 72.

FORECAST: Thursday will be sunny to start with afternoon clouds. We’ll have only a slight chance of isolated PM t-storms. Thursday’s high goes up to 98 due to a build-up of high pressure. Friday will be partly cloudy with widely scattered showers and t-showers. Some storms may become strong and produce brief, heavy rainfall. Friday’s high: 98. Saturday will be partly to mostly cloudy with widely scattered showers and t-showers. Brief, heavy rain will be possible out of some storms. Saturday’s high: 96. Sunday will be a very unstable day for the atmosphere, meaning we could see some of the strongest storms of the week on Sunday. Some may produce brief, heavy rainfall as well. Look for partly to mostly cloudy skies with a high of 91. Labor Day will be mostly cloudy to overcast almost all day. With a high of only 86, expect rain with the potential for heavy rainfall, especially in the morning. Tuesday will be partly cloudy and 89 with scattered t-showers…
