MIDLAND, Texas (KMID/KPEJ)- A man from El Paso is facing federal charges after Midland County deputies discovered multiple kilograms of cocaine during a traffic stop on Interstate 20, according to the Midland County Sheriff’s Office.
According to MCSO, deputies with the sheriff’s patrol division stopped a vehicle in the 8500 block of I-20 on August 28 for a traffic violation. During the investigation, deputies said they obtained probable cause to search the vehicle and discovered approximately five kilograms of cocaine.
The driver, identified as Brayan Castillo-Lopez, 31, was arrested at the scene. He was booked into the Midland County Detention Center on a federal remand for possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance. Jail records show Castillo-Lopez is also being held for the U.S. Marshals Service on a detainer from the Western District of Texas.
