EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Air and Marine Operations helicopter crew helped to rescue a person near Mammoth Cave in the Franklin Mountains over the weekend.
On Saturday, Aug. 30, an AMO El Paso Air Branch UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter and crew assisted the El Paso Fire Department’s Combined Search and Rescue by hoist-lifting and evacuating an injured hiker who fell from a cliff near Mammoth Cave, CBP said.
The helicopter and crew hoisted injured person and six COMSAR rescue crew members 180 feet into the aircraft to make the rescue.
El Paso Fire reported that the rescued person had fallen off their mountain bike and needed to be airlifted.
