Texas expands ‘Move Over or Slow Down’ law to protect animal officers

EL PASO, TEXAS (KFOX14/CBS4) — A recent amendment to Texas’s “Move Over or Slow Down” law now extends protections to Animal Protection Officers and their vehicles, the City of El Paso announced on Monday.

The update, effective earlier this month, was enacted through Senate Bill 305, passed earlier this year, and mandates drivers to either reduce their speed by 20 miles per hour below the posted limit or move one lane over when approaching a stopped emergency or first-responder vehicle, now including Animal Protection officers.
