UVALDE, Tx., September 22, 2025: In an update to a story, we brought you on Thursday about the death of Regina Santos-Aviles on September 14, we have now learned that Santos-Aviles was distraught at the time of her death, according to the San Antonio Express-News. Santos-Aviles is a former staffer to U.S. Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-23), who represents the far-eastside of El Paso.
Paramedics were called to her house at around 9:30 in the evening on Saturday, September 13, for what was described as a disturbance. The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s confirmed that she was pronounced dead on the morning of September 14. The cause of death has not been released although she was admitted to the hospital with extensive burns across her body.
Nora Ann Gonzales, Santos-Aviles’ mother, told news media outlets that she found her daughter conscious when she arrived at her house. The mother has said that her daughter’s burns were caused by an accident, although she has confirmed that her daughter was distraught…
