El Paso Mayor Johnson focused on tax relief via growth

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — El Paso Mayor Renard Johnson, who has been in office for nearly nine months, is focusing on lowering property taxes by promoting economic development in the city.

Mayor Johnson discussed the city’s efforts to improve economic development efforts, in addition to infrastructure, public safety, and quality of life during a live interview on Tuesday, Sept. 23 with KTSM 9 News anchor Andy Morgan. He emphasized the importance of bringing in more businesses to offset residential property taxes, which he identified as a major concern for residents.

“When we knocked on doors while I was campaigning, that was probably the number one thing we heard in the community. People’s taxes are too high,” said Mayor Johnson. “I think we have to do a much better job at getting those lowered.”…
