Federal Prosecutors Target Smuggling Networks, Repeat Offenders in Texas Crackdown

SAN ANTONIO, Texas (FOX 44) – Federal prosecutors in the Western District of Texas filed 270 new immigration and immigration-related criminal cases between Sept. 19 and Sept. 25, with charges ranging from human smuggling to illegal re-entry by repeat offenders.

The week’s cases included U.S. citizens accused of transporting migrants for profit, previously deported individuals with felony convictions, and multiple arrests of migrants with repeat DWI records. Authorities highlighted arrests in Dilley, El Paso, and Del Rio, where individuals were caught attempting to smuggle or re-enter after prior removals.

Several defendants had histories of violent crimes, sexual offenses, and drug-related charges, while others were taken into custody after local arrests for impaired driving. Many had been deported multiple times before their latest arrests…
