Aurora Truck Driver Killed in I-10 Crash Near UTEP: El Paso Traffic Snarled for Hours

A tragic incident unfolded early yesterday morning when a truck driver was killed in a crash along I-10 near UTEP. According to KTSM, the victim was identified as 37-year-old Mohamed Ali Mumin from Aurora, Colorado. Police reported that at around 1:30 a.m., his semi-truck drifted for unknown reasons onto the shoulder and struck the guardrail before colliding with a cement pillar of the Spur 1966 overpass.

Following the incident, as obtained by the El Paso Times, traffic was heavily congested, with cameras showing the backup extending past the Sunland Park exit as late as 9 a.m. The closure of the eastbound I-10 lanes continued well into the afternoon, only clearing late Friday after nearly 14 hours of disruption.

As a result of the crash, traffic in El Paso was thrown into chaos.
