UVALDE, Tx., September 30, 2025: In an update to a story, we have been covering for the last few weeks, we have now learned that the former staffer for U.S. Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-23), who represents parts of east and northeast El Paso, doused herself with gasoline before dying.
Regina Santos-Aviles died at around 6:30 in the morning on September 14 from her injuries. Paramedics at the scene found her with severe burns on her body. According to her mother, who arrived before the paramedics, Santos-Aviles’ last words were, “I don’t want to die.”
