Parents seek answers after 4-year-old with autism found alone near school parking lot

EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — A family is calling for increased vigilance and accountability at Kohlberg Elementary after they say their 4-year-old daughter, who’s nonverbal and has autism, was found unattended near a parking lot during school pickup time.

Paul Arroyave recounted the distressing incident, which occurred around 3:25 p.m. on Monday when he arrived to pick up his children.

“I pulled up and I walked down to the pickup areas,” Arroyave said.

His older daughter, Catalina, usually helps with her younger sister, Luciana, who was not at the playground as expected…
